Most businesses never need Pro, and that is fine. It is for a business that wants something specific from the list below: a password on a page, a list of things it keeps up to date like a menu or a team, its own tracking tools, a shop that fills itself from Payhip, or a closer eye on its numbers.
Pro also gives you more room. One login can hold 5 sites instead of 3, a site can have 5 people working on it instead of 3, and 5 web addresses are included instead of 1.
Two things change without you doing anything. The email with your numbers comes every Monday morning, covering the last week, instead of once a month. And Analytics keeps your visitor history for at least a year, where the $10 plan keeps 30 days.
If you try to use a Pro tool on the $10 plan, Kitset tells you it is part of Pro and offers to take you to your plan. Nothing breaks and nothing is lost. Tools marked with a small Pro label still open, so you can look before you decide.

Step by step
Open your dashboard. On the Overview, open Set-up and find "Your plan".
Only an owner of the site sees the buttons on this card.
Press "Upgrade to Pro - $20 a month". On a site with no plan yet, the button says "Start on Pro - $20 a month".
That is it. Pro tools work straight away, and the difference for the rest of the month is worked out on your next invoice.
To move back, press "Back to Kitset - $10 a month" on the same card.
You keep Pro until the end of the month you have already paid for. After that the Pro tools stop, nothing on your site is deleted, and anything you set up with them stays where it is.
If it does not go to plan
It says I already have the most sites my plan allows.
Every site you are on counts, including ones somebody else owns and added you to. Pro allows 5. If you need more than that, email us.
It will not let me add another person.
The $10 plan allows 3 people on a site and Pro allows 5. Remove somebody who no longer needs to get in, or move to Pro.
I upgraded and a Pro tool still says it is part of Pro.
Reload the dashboard. If it still says so, tell us which site and which tool and we will look straight away.
I do not want the Monday email.
Open Settings in your dashboard and untick Your website's numbers by email, or press Stop these emails at the bottom of the email. Your numbers stay in your dashboard either way.
