Cancelling billing and deleting your account are different things. Cancelling stops the monthly charge and takes your site offline at the end of the period you have paid for, but your account and content stay, so you can come back. Deleting removes your login and your access entirely and cannot be undone.
Either way, ask us for a copy of your site first if you want one. The words, photos and design are yours and we will hand them over. That is worth doing even if you are only pausing.
Step by step
Email us first if you want a copy of your site. We will send you the files.
To stop paying: open your plan card, press Manage billing, and cancel.
To delete your account entirely: open Settings and use Delete account.
You will be asked to type your email to confirm, because this one cannot be undone.
If it does not go to plan
What happens to my domain?
Nothing. You own it and it stays yours. You will want to point it somewhere else, or it will stop resolving to a website.
I am the only owner of a site somebody else uses.
Deleting is refused in that case rather than quietly taking their site down. Hand ownership over first, or tell us and we will help.
